New biometric rule in UAE for Saudi visa-seekers

Posted by sahill786 at 11:03 PM 0 Comments

New biometric rule in UAE (United Arab Emirates) for Saudi visa-seekers

Applicants must have their fingerprints and photo taken at one of three VFS Tasheel visa service centres Dubai: Applicants for visas to Saudi Arabia, including Haj and Umrah pilgrims, who apply from the UAE must now also have their fingerprints and picture taken in addition to regular requirements.
The new rules went into effect on Sunday. The new biometric enrollment part of the visa application costs Dh17 and is said to speed up entry formalities to the kingdom.
However, those exempt from the biometrics rule include applicants aged below 12 or above 70, diplomatic visa applicants, and those who cannot complete the process for a medical reason. he UAE is the sixth country where the biometric rule has been introduced and more countries will join the list in a phased roll-out. Both the fingerprint and picture capture will take a total of three to five minutes. Applicants must visit one of three VFS Tasheel visa service centres in the UAE — in Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Sharjah — which handle Saudi visa applications. VFS Tasheel is authorised by the Saudi foreign affairs ministry to manage the Saudi visa application process in more than 30 countries.

Company officials said the biometrics rule has been made mandatory by the Saudi ministry, adding the company does not store or use the biometrics data in any way. Their comments came during a Dubai press conference announcing the development. Asif Delvi, assistant vice-president of VFS Tasheel, said the biometrics will “definitely make a difference in the time” taken by applications to go through. However, it will not affect the decision process itself, which is solely taken by the Saudi embassies or consulates, he added. Delvi said implementing the biometrics within the application process itself means “there will only be a verification process at the [Saudi] airport or border”. He added that the new rule “makes sure the same person who applied for the visa is the one who is actually travelling to Saudi Arabia.

Plus it’s for some background checks the [Saudi foreign ministry] does.” Also, pilgrims seeking Haj or Umrah visas must visit a visa service centre to have their fingerprints and picture taken. However, their other usual formalities will continue to be handled as routine by an authorized Haj or Umrah agent. Once the agent completes the pilgrim’s Enjaz process, the agent will need to schedule an appointment with the closest visa center on the applicant’s behalf. All visa applicants must book an appointment for the biometrics on the VFS

Turkish PM's aide who kicked protester during mining protests sacked

Posted by sahill786 at 10:34 PM 0 Comments

The Turkish prime ministerial aide photographed kicking a grieving protester at the site of the country's worst mining disaster has been fired.

Yusuf Yerkel was pictured lashing out at the man, who was already being restrained on the ground, during anti-government demonstrations after the accident which claimed the lives of 301 miners.

The image of him kicking the man went viral on social media and came to symbolise the Turkish government's widely criticised handling of the disaster.

A government official said Yerkel was finally fired this week. He told Reuters: "Yusuf Yerkel apologised but it was too late. At the end of the discussion the prime minister fired him directly."

The Turkish prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, had previously refused to sack him, saying it was a private matter, and his ministers defended Yerkel's attack. Erdoğan's main political adviser, Yalçin Akdogan, said it had been an act of "self-defence against those who kicked [official] vehicles and tried to lynch the delegation". He also criticised an "irresponsible press" for using the photograph to "make [the protests] look like a massive uprising against the government".

After the incident Yerkel went on sick leave, having been diagnosed with soft tissue trauma in the leg he used to kick the protester. A medical report said he was suffering from "sensitivity with leg and arm movements and difficulty with walking", according to the newspaper Hürriyet. Yerkel had reportedly told doctors he had fallen.

After initially refusing to apologise, Yerkel said he was "sorry for being unable to keep calm".

Skype Leaks Its Users Essential Information Including IP Address :(

Posted by sahill786 at 3:05 PM 0 Comments

Microsoft owned skype became responsible for leaking precious data of its users including internal and external IP addresses along with ports. Anyone can acquire the IP details of any Skype user by simply knowing its Skype ID, we have checked. As a matter of fact, for those who don’t know,  Skype creates a direct peer to peer connection between Skype users for lesser latency and better connectivity.  Meaning that a Skype voice or video call, or a file transfer takes place between two devices (PCs or Smartphones) without involving Skype server. This direct connection creates a better connectivity between users and offers premium quality voice and filer transfer speeds. The problem, however, is that last known IP address of any Skype user – who has made a voice/video call or did a file transfer – is potentially available for anyone to access when required. There is a manual method available – that requires some technical skills – through which anyone can access the last known IP address of any Skype user by just knowing  the Skype ID of the target user.
Once the hacker successfully gets your IP, then he/she can use different IP LOOKUP websites in order to trace you and to get many credential information relating to you. He/she can potentially have your home location address, phone numbers and  various other sensitive information relating to you.A statement from Skype described the privacy leak as  “an on-going, industry-wide issue faced by all peer-to-peer software companies.”Along with, Skype issued  a software update for its users where it has offered them an option to hide IP address, if they want to.  Not to mention, older versions of Skype are still prone to this bug.The following screenshot shows that how can you hide your IP address from being public.

UK cities becoming Mosquito friendly habitats (Scientist)

Posted by sahill786 at 11:56 AM 0 Comments

Warmer ambient temperatures and more water containers ingardens are bringing mosquitoes into closer contact with people, say scientists.
Writing in their paper, Dr Callaghan and colleague Susannah Townroe observed: "Within the UK, [water butts - a container for rainwater] are becoming increasingly common in residential gardens.
"A severe drought and subsequent hosepipe ban in the spring of 2012 across southern and eastern England led to reports of hugely inflated sales of water butt containers," they added.
The number of water containers continues to grow as households look to save money and water
"Water butts collect rain from roof guttering along with vegetation, animal detritus... providing both a habitat and food resource for mosquito larvae."
They explained that while individual containers were relatively small, when all the water butts in the area were combined, it represented a "large area of habitat" for breeding mosquitoes.
The authors added: "This, in combination with the [urban heat island] effect... may favour mosquito larval production in urban habitats."
In order to test this idea, the researchers placed water containers in a number of urban and rural residential gardens.
"We found fewer species of mosquitoes in urban environments compared with rural environments, but the species that were there were much more abundant," Dr Callaghan told BBC News.
"The one that was most abundant is calledCulex pipiens, and in other countries C. pipienscarry diseases such as West Nile Virus."
The other species of mosquito that the researchers found in the study's water containers was Anopheles plumbeus, which has been shown to be a "reasonably good vector of malaria".
Dr Callaghan said: "The main finding is that these mosquitoes are right next to people's houses and the Anopheles mosquito we found is a human-biting species and it can transmit malaria.

Flappy Bird’ is coming back. And it might be more addictive than ever :)

Posted by sahill786 at 10:58 AM 0 Comments
When “Flappy Bird” creator Dong Nguyen pulled his maddening smart Phone game from the iOS app store in February, he vowed that the game would never return — for the safety of its fans. “Flappy Bird” had become “too addictive,” he said, to the point that he was kept up at night by the guilt of having created it.

Maybe Nguyen’s new Multi Player version will be easier, and thus less appealing to addiction-prone players. Maybe he’s making some other, more clever design tweaks that will revolutionize the psychology of game Play. Or maybe Nguyen’s in for some more sleepless nights — right alongside his red-eyed, slack-jawed, utterly obsessed players.
Flappy Bird is certainly among the more confusing things in life. It was a minor hit for pretty much during its entire lifetime of about a year. Then the start of the second year brought a sudden success which turned this game into a worldwide phenomenon, raking in its developer $50,000 a day at its peak.

PTCL to Launch 36Mbps Wireless Broadband With-in Two Weeks . (Char Gi )

Posted by sahill786 at 2:57 PM 0 Comments

you think that 3G or even 4G was your last resort for mobile broadband needs then the time has come to think it again.
I am saying this PTCL is all set to come up with something that will blow your minds. The company has decided to shock the market again with this new device that will change the way we connect to internet, exactly like it did with EVO and Nitro devices few years ago.
We have confirmations that blazing internet speeds up to 36Mbps are going to be up for the offering to masses in Pakistan with-in next just couple of weeks, yes that’s about with-in 15 days from today.
According to the information we have received, this new technology is being pioneered in Pakistan by PTCL that is capable of offering wireless broadband speeds up to 36Mbps for download and up to 7Mbps for data uploads with-in PTCL’s existing WLL spectrum.
Our sources confirm that actual download speeds crossed 30Mbps mark on a network that PTCL is currently testing in a live environment.
Customers can expect actual download speeds of 20Mbps to 25Mbps after the launch of this new project from PTCL that is code-named as “Chaar Ji” with-in the company.

PTCL hasn’t confirmed us anything officially yet, however, we have cross checked with multiple sources to believe that this whooping wireless broadband speed – something we used to hear about from our foreign friends only – will be available on EVO-like WiFi dongle devices.
