Delhi Daredevils v Chennai Super Kings, IPL 2012,

Posted by sahill786 at 11:51 AM 0 Comments
Delhi Daredevils outperformed defending champions Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in the 11th game of IPL 2012 here at Feroz Shah Kotla.
Chennai Super Kings were disappointing with the bat for the second time in three games and their confused running allowed Delhi Daredevils to restrict them to their second-lowest total in the IPL for a comprehensive win. Three of the first four Super Kings batsmen ran themselves out as neither Daredevils' bowlers nor their fielders let up on the pressure.

Off the first ball of the game, M Vijay responded too eagerly to a call for a single from Faf du Plessis only for the latter to stop after taking a few steps. Vijay was almost at the other end and had no chance of making it back. Such chaos was to be a feature of the innings. Suresh Raina went too far down the pitch in search of a tight single but could not make it back in time; S Badrinath was to meet a similar fate a couple of overs later.
Toss and Teams: Virender Sehwag, Captain of Delhi Daredevils has won the toss and asked Chennai Super Kings to bat first at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. The match has been pushed to an 8:30 PM start because of a rain spell in the evening.

Hosts Delhi Daredevils had an easy stroll in the park at the Feroz Shah Kotla against defending champs Chennai Super Kings. The Daredevils chased the target of 111 in just 13.2 overs to win by 8 wickets with as many as 40 balls to spare.

Skipper Virender Sehwag led the way smashing his way to 33 from 21 balls with 4 fours and a six before he threw his wicket away to R Aswhin. CSK was never in contest with the ball as the Delhi Daredevils batsmen went berserk. Kevin Pietersen was brutal as he finished the game with an unbeaten 43 from 26 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes in the company of Mahela Jayawardene who eased to 20* (from 21 balls).

Morne Morkel got the Man of the Match for his 2 for 19 in 4 overs.

CSK restricted to a poor total of 110 for 8.

Delhi Daredevils look good to beat Chennai Super Kings at the Feroz Shah Kotla after restricting the defending champions to just 110 for 8! Chennai Super Kings were struggling all through their innings because of four run outs!

Infact the first ball of the match itself saw a run out and that kind of set the trend in the CSK innings. Not a single batsman could get going for the CSK. Morne Morkel led the bowling with mean figures of 4-0-19-2. Left arm spinners Roelof van der Merwe with 4-0-15-0 and Shahbaz Nadeem with 3-0-9-0 strangled the CSK batsmen completely in the middle overs. The top scorer for CSK was Dwayne Bravo who consumed 31 balls for his 22.

The Daredevils have brought in Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pietersen and Roelof van der Merwe into the playing XI. CSK has stuck with the same side that defeated Deccan Chargers.
