Katy Perry arrives in India for IPL opening

Pop icon Katy Perry has landed in India for her show at the opening of the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) -- and says she is honoured to be in the country. After taking a flight from Tokyo, she tweeted: "After what felt like longest flight ever I'm finally here! Honoured to play Chennai! This is my first performance in India."

The 27-year-old, set to enthrall the audience with her hits like Fireworks and California Gurls, arrived in Chennai on Monday.

"Almost fell asleep in my curry last night, no joke... Woke up feeling so much better after a fresh meditate... feels appropriate being in India," she tweeted on Tuesday.

This is not the first time the singer is visiting India. She tied the knot with now estranged husband Russell Brand in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony in India in October 2010.

Priyanka to meet Katy Perry?
Insiders from Taj Hotel — where Priyanka and Katy will be staying — inform that arrangements are being made for an elaborate, but informal meeting between Priyanka and Katy.

“While the final itinerary is being kept a complete secret, Taj officials have been informed that the exact details of their meeting and required arrangements will be given only a day in advance,” says an insider.

“Priyanka is expected to discuss her album and experience as a singer with Katy. Of course, Katy’s insights will come in handy,” an insider close to the actor told Hindustan Times.

Although details are being kept under wraps, the meeting is scheduled to take place either a day before or after the Opening IPL Nite.

“They can’t meet on that day, since both will be busy with their acts. And since they don’t want a meet-and-greet kind of encounter, it will happen either over lunch or dinner,” adds the insider.

Although Priyanka remained unavailable for comment, her spokesperson says, “It’s too early to talk about the meeting as things are still being worked out. But since Priyanka is opening the IPL night, she will be in Chennai for a couple of days. As for meeting with Katy, an official announcement will be made soon.”
