Pakistan 178 for 2 (Nazir 72, Hafeez 45,
Jamshed 29*)beat Bangladesh 175 for 6
(Shakib 84, Tamim 24, Arafat 3-25)
by eight wickets :)

Imran Nazir's strike rate of 200 is the second-highest for a Pakistan batsman for a fifty-plus score. Umar Akmal is on top with a strike rate of 206.45 during his 64 against Australia in 2010.
Shakib Al Hasan's strike rate of 155.55 is the fourth-highest for a fifty-plus score by a Bangladesh batsman in Twenty20 internationals.
The target chased (176) is the highest for Pakistan in Twenty20 internationals. Their previous highest was 165 against Australia in 2007.
The 124-run stand between Nazir and Mohammad Hafeez is the second-highest opening stand for Pakistan in Twenty20 internationals. The highest opening stand for Pakistan (142) also came against Bangladesh.
The run-rate in the game (9.12) is the seventh-highest in World Twenty20 matches (minimum 30 overs in the game) and the second-highest in a World Twenty20 game involving Pakistan.

Afghans show India the mirror in World T20
India 159 for 5 (Kohli 50, Raina 38,
Shapoor 2-33) beat Afghanistan 136
(Nabi 31, Balaji 3-19, Yuvraj 3-24, Ashwin 2-20) by 23 runs :)

COLOMBO: A third fifty on the trot by the current 'Mr Dependable,' Virat Kohli and a three-wicket haul by Yuvraj Singh, at a critical stage, enabled India to snuff out an inspirational challenge from Afghanistan by 23 runs at the R Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday night in their opening World T20 match.

India vs Pakistan ICC T20 World Cup 2012 warm-up match: preview

Posted by sahill786 at 9:19 AM 0 Comments

World Cup 2012 warm up match may not be very important given the fact that it is just a practice match and will not affect the standing of the two South Asian teams in the tournament, but both teams would go to any extent to win it. The two are sworn enemies not just off the field, but on cricket pitches too and their face-off is never without a fair share of controversies.

Given the fact that cricketing ties between India and Pakistan stand frozen except a few matches here and there, every match becomes important for both the teams. The tension is not just within the cricket stadium where match is played, but throughout the Subcontinent. A win is always given more importance and weigh than a win against any other nation even against the best team in the world, and a loss is always brings some punitive measures against the players.

Given the pressure, every player from both the teams wishes to come up with his best ever performance and at times the matches are brilliant show of cricketing skills of both the teams.

To be true, there is not much advertisement campaign at least in India about the T20 World Cup tournament, but thanks to today’s warm up match, this will compensate for lack of any advertising. The match will be keenly watches by cricket fans across the two countries where the biggest cricket following population lives.

Right now Indian team seems to be in great shape and after its exceptional show against New Zealand and previously against Sri Lanka on Lankan surface, the team is well prepared to take on its arch rivals. Pakistani team that failed to do well against Australia in just concluded series in United Arab Emirates, was able to bag the T20 series against the Aussies. So for this small version of cricket they too seem fully prepared.

From Pakistani side Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal will be keenly watched as the two are the most gifted players of the Pak team, while from Indian side Virat Kohli and Irfan Pathan will be under lenses.

T 20 ICC rankings

Posted by sahill786 at 8:39 AM 0 Comments
New Zealand's

Brendon MuCullum has moved to No. 1 in the Twenty20 Internationals rankings, following his match-winning 91 against India in Chennai on Tuesday. In the bowlers' rankings, Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal, who moved up to No. 1 in the ODI bowling rankings at the end of the one-dayers against Australia, repeated the feat in the T20s, where he took six wickets in three games at 8.66.

There was a lot of movement in the batting rankings following the clutch of T20I series in the lead-up to the World Twenty20, with Australia's David Warner jumping up six places to fourth, and India's Suresh Raina shifting up a place to third. The biggest loser in the rankings has been England's Eoin Morgan,

who slipped from No. 1 to No. 9 following the three-match series against South Africa, where he managed an aggregate of 15 runs from 20 balls.

Graeme Swann was the player replaced at the top of the bowling rankings, moving down to No. 2. Shane Watson was the biggest mover among the top bowlers, moving up eight places to seventh - he had picked up three wickets in the three games against Pakistan, conceding less than a run a ball.

Yuvraj Singh, who made 34 off 26 on comeback from cancer in India's unsuccessful chase against New Zealand, re-entered the rankings at No. 15.

Pakistan could boycott ICC awards over Ajmal omission

Posted by sahill786 at 3:41 PM 0 Comments

PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf has reopened the debate surrounding Saeed Ajmal's exclusion from the ICC awards shortlists by hinting that Pakistan's players could boycott the awards function, to be held in Colombo on September 15, as a "robust protest". The ICC, responding to the PCB's protest on Monday, had ruled out a rethink and the matter seemed to have ended there.

However, Ashraf's comments, made during an interview to ESPNcricinfo, suggest the issue is still alive for Pakistan. "We are facing a lot of pressure from the public and from our former players to push for his inclusion," Ashraf said. "I think the ICC should check whether the independent jury is coming up with the best name and they should not give away the due right of any player in the world.

"If anyone else has more wickets than Ajmal, then we are ready to withdraw our concern and instead we will support their pick. But this isn't reflecting well of the ICC and they should rectify it.

"Meanwhile we probably have to give a second thought to even boycott the function as a robust protest."

Ajmal was in the longlist for the Test Player of the Year award but missed out when an independent 32-member jury, which included former Pakistan captain Aamer Sohail and Pakistan journalist Majid Bhatti, nominated Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara, South Africa fast bowler Vernon Philander, Australia captain Michael Clarke and South Africa opener Hashim Amla in that category.

Ajmal, 34, took 72 Test wickets between August 4, 2011 and August 6, 2012 - the qualifying period for the award - including 24 at 14.70 as Pakistan swept aside England, the then No. 1 side in the world, 3-0 in January. He has climbed to No. 3 in the ICC Test bowling rankings and is the highest ranked spinner. On Thursday, he was revealed as the top bowler in the ODI rankings.

After the PCB lodged the protest, the ICC refused to reconsider Ajmal's case, saying it had no authority to change the results of the academy. The process was monitored by the independent auditor Ernst & Young, and the longlist was prepared by a five-member Selection Panel headed by Clive Lloyd and included Clare Connor (England), Tom Moody (Australia), Carl Hooper (West Indies) and Marvan Atapattu (Sri Lanka).

Pakistan vs Australia 1st T20

Posted by sahill786 at 9:16 AM 0 Comments
DUBAI: Pakistan easily defeated Australia by seven wickets with 5.1 overs remaining in the first Twenty20 International of the three-match series here at the Dubai Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal top scored with an unbeaten 31 followed by opener Imran Nazir (22) and captain Mohammad Hafeez (17) while Nasir Jamshed made 10 and Shoaib Malik remained not out on nine.

Earlier, Pakistani bowlers dismissed Australia for a mere 89 runs in 19.3 overs after Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez won the toss and put Australia into bat

This was their second lowest total in Twenty20 International cricket as the previous lowest was 79 which they made against England at Southampton in 2005.

No Australian batsman could get into the double figures except three players --- Opener David Warner (22), middle-order batsman Cameron White (15) and captain George Bailey (14).

Left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir was the most successful bowler for Pakistan with three for 13 while off-spinners Saeed Ajmal and Hafeez, and left-arm spinner Raza Hasan claimed two wickets each. Umar Gul took one wicket.

Australia vs Pakistan 3rd ODI Preview – 3rd September

Posted by sahill786 at 12:11 PM 0 Comments
The series is currently tied between Australia and Pakistan as they have both won a game each. It has come to the decider which again will be played in Sharjah and it is tough to pick a favourite for the match. There have been two fairly close games which have been completely different to each other.

If Australia bowl the way they did in the 2nd ODI it will make it a lot easier for Pakistan to win the ODI series. If Pakistan bat poorly like they did in the 1st ODI then Australia should be all over them.

Match Information :

September 3, Sharjah

Starting Time: 1800 Local Time (1400 GMT Time)

Key Contest:

Mitchell Starc vs Nasir Jahshed

Mitchell Starc started off the series against Pakistan very well picking up a 5 wicket haul but in the 2nd ODI he was part of the bowling attack that leaked runs which influenced the result of the match favouring Pakistan. Starc will have a huge influence on this match, Australia no longer have Brett Lee who was very good at the start of the innings or the old Mitchell Johnson so Starc needs to step up into a senior role. Nasir Jahshed got the Pakistan fans on their feet in Dubai as he went so close to scoring his 2nd ODI hundred falling only 3 runs short. His innings set the Pakistan innings up to chase a good score of 248 set by the Australian’s. Jahshed or Hafeez need to have a big contribution early on so that the middle order isn’t put under as much pressure as they were in the 1st ODI.

Team News:

Abu Dhabi: Star Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi will play the third and the final One Day International (ODI) against Australia at Sharjah, after he recovered from the back pain.

Pakistan played very well in the 2nd ODI but their could be a few changes made to the bowling attack. Aizaz Cheema could be brought back for Sohail Tanvir who has leaked 106 runs from 17 overs also going wicketless in the 2 ODI’s so far.

Saeed Ajmal has taken 7 wickets for the hosts and Australia don’t have a well recognised spinner in the XI at the moment. The bowlers went for runs last match and a change should be made to bring Xavier Doherty in for either Mitchell Johnson or Daniel Christian.
